This oil painting on linen canvas measures 24 x 30 inches unframed and 29 x 35 inches mounted in a hand made Florentine style metal leafed finished corner frame hand made by the artist. Pettipaug is a lovely meadow along the banks of the Connecticut River in Essex, Connecticut. It is directly across the river from Hamburg Cove in Lyme, CT. The hill in the far background is Mitchell Hill, one of the highest points in Lyme. The assortment of boats are typical of Leif Nilsson's favorite boats to paint: catboats, small launches and daysailers. The foreground is filled with clover on a sunny June afternoon.
