"Growing up in Old Lyme I was not only surrounded by the landscapes painted by the American Impressionists, but also by their actual paintings which hung at the Florence Griswold House, the Town Hall, the Church and the Elementary School. The Lyme Art Association is where The Lyme Academy was born and where I studied art, so when Sunset Hill Vineyards invited me to be the first artist of the series and asked what local charity I would give a percentage of the sales to I immediately chose the Lyme Art Association because it is the birthplace of American Impressionism. The painting "Selden's Creek - end of day" epitomizes the soft light favored by the impressionists and is part of Lymes' vast land trust."
