Mrs. Jihyeon “Celina” Berman is an active cellist, soloist, and chamber musician. Celina was trained as a classical cellist at Sunhwa Art School and Sunhwa Art High School, before making her first debut at age fifteen at Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Korea. She won many major international music competitions such as the Korea-Germany Brahms Competition, the Korea-USA International Competition, and the Mozart International Competition. Celina came to New York in 2009 to study at the Mannes School of Music, where she received the Merit Based Scholarship for both her Bachelors and Masters of Music, as well as graduating with honors. Celina studied cello with Fred Sherry and Jeffery Zeigler. She studied chamber music with Carl Schachter, Victor Rosenbaum, Edna Michell, Hiroko Yajima, Daniel Phillips and Todd Phillips of the Orion String Quartet. Celina frequently holds recitals as a solo musician and chamber player. These performances have taken her to venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, New Jersey Performing Art Center, and many other music halls, churches, museums, and galleries.

Celina is passionate about teaching music, and has taught cello lessons in New York City from 2009, New Jersey from 2017, and in Connecticut from 2022. She also worked as a cello coach and judge for the New York Laboratory Orchestra (2013-2015), the International School Orchestra in NY (2013-2015), the New Jersey Youth Symphony Orchestra CHAMPS (2017-2019), and the New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra (2018-2020). She also worked as an adjudicator at New Jersey Youth Symphony (2019), the New Jersey State Solo and Ensemble Festival (2020), and the NEMTA String Competition (2021).

Celina began hosting an annual student concert in Manhattan from 2011 to give her students formal stage experience. Working with private cello students and conducting youth orchestra for 13 years has given Celina an incredibly strong teaching background. Her students are actively performing in orchestras such as the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra in NY (MYO), New York Laboratory Orchestra (NYLO), Inter School Orchestra in NY (ISO), New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS), and the New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra. They have also received excellent grades from the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), All-State Orchestra Audition and been accepted to preparatory schools in New York City.
