Please join us for a Concert in the Garden at the Leif Nilsson Spring Street Studio & Gallery at 1 Spring St, Chester Center on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 4pm to 6pm featuring bluesman Ramblin’ Dan Stevens and Clayton Allen. In a melding of diverse blues styles, Stevens and Allen have forged a unique sound, representing a wide variety of traditionally based fingerpicking with a tinge of primitive blues and early blues rock and roll. Clayton’s raw energy and emotional delivery contrast with Dan’s soulful approach creating a dynamic mix. A dose of Diddly Bow and Cigar Box guitar backed with a driving rhythm and gospel influenced vocals convey a rock bottom authenticity.

They recently won the CT Blues Challenge and will be representing the state at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

Dan performs an eclectic mix of traditional fingerstyle blues and originals and has entertained audiences throughout the US, Germany, UK, Canada and Virgin Islands. Of special interest is his unique style of "bottleneck" slide playing popularized by early Mississippi delta bluesmen including his use of a homemade, three stringed "Cigar Box Guitar" and one stringed "Diddly Bow", both primitive blues instruments. Dan has been lauded for the authenticity of his approach gained by many years on the road as a traveling blues musician. Dan has appeared with such artists as Arlo Guthire, Richie Havens, Charlie Daniels, James Cotton, Gatemouth Brown and many others.
